[gnu.emacs] problem compiling 18.54

windley@cheetah.ucdavis.edu (Phil Windley/20000000) (08/12/89)

I'm having problems compiling emacs 18.54 on an IBM RT running AIX2.2 (I
successfully made 18.51 a while ago).

After temacs is built and the DOC files has been written, temacs is called
with inc-vers.el to change version.el in the lisp directory. At this
point, I get the following message (I've included some context lines before
the actual meesage):

        rm -f ../etc/DOC
        ../etc/make-docfile dispnew.o scroll.o xdisp.o window.o term.o cm.o xt

 ../lisp/buff-menu.elc ../lisp/subr.elc ../lisp/version.el > ../etc/DOC
        ./temacs -batch -l inc-vers
Loading inc-vers...
Opening input file: no such file or directory, /../lisp/version.el

Some experimentation shows that temacs is appending a slash to the front of
every path, thus the /../lisp... instead of ../lisp...

Has anyone seen this and know of a fix?
