know how to configure the system to let me do this.

I am running GNU version 18.52 and have set my system file to s-bsd4-2.h

Lastly, (well, not really, I have tons of GNU questions, but too many for
one posting :-) ), am I running the latest version or is there a newer
version than 18.52? How and where could I get the latest?

Thanks for any help you can offer,

You didn't mention what window system you're using. If you're using
Suntools, see etc/SUN-SUPPORT in the source tree. If you're using X,
see lisp/x-{mouse,menu}.el and lisp/term/x-win.el. If you're using
NeWS, see lisp/term/NeWS-win.el. I haven't had any success with MGR,
except treating a window as a simple terminal (without a meta key!).
Classic Andrew had hooks to Gosling's Emacs, but now that Andrew lives
atop X, you can probably get along with the standard X interface to
GNU. If you're using some other window system on your Sun, I don't
know.

...is there a newer version than 18.52?

18.54 is current.

How and where could I get the latest?

Via anonymous FTP from prep.ai.mit.edu:/u/emacs/edist.tar-18.54.Z or
via UUCP from osu-cis (write osu-cis!uucp for details).
