[gnu.emacs] written-file-hooks

msb@ho5cad.att.com (Mike Balenger) (08/22/89)

I am looking for a way to do stuff AFTER a file is written.
write-file-hooks does stuff BEFORE the file is written.

Specifically, I want to have a written-file-hook attached to my
.profile, .emacs, and $ENV files so that I can modify them on one
machine and have them rcp'd to another machine immediately. This way,
I can have one version of the files run on all the machines I use, but
not worry about which machine has the latest version.

I could use the write-file-hook to submit an at(1) job for "now + 1
minute", but I was hoping for a cleaner solution.

Ideas?

How about using ftp-write-file in write-file-hook? Sounds good to me (haven't
tried, though).
