[gnu.emacs] Looking for Kanji GNU Emacs

Greetings,
    I read somewhere a while back that there was a version of GNU Emacs
around somewhere that supported the kanji (sp?) character set.  Does
anybody have any pointers to such a beast?  Please send me mail, and
I'll summarize to the list/group.
