[gnu.emacs] GNU emacs for the HP9000 workstation

mat60@uts.amdahl.com (Mark Thomas) (11/16/89)

I cannot get our GNU emacs program to compile on the HP9000
workstaion. Does anybody know where I can ftp source for the
HP9000s300 series workstation?
Any help would help.

Mark,
I had trouble building gnu-emacs on my hp9000s300 system as well. My
problem lie in the fact that the series 300 c compiler takes the -L switch
as "-L dir" (note that space between the -L and the dir). The src/Makefile
has it as normal (ie, "-Ldir").

Hope this helps,

If you could be more specific, help might be faster in arriving...

I will take a stab at your problem. When upgrading from HP-UX 6.2 to 6.5, HP
added a couple new global symbols to crt0.o. GNU Emacs 18.55 has the
necessary symbols defined in crt0.c to avoid undefined symbol messages from
ld. Earlier versions lacked these symbols.

I hope this is helpful help...
