I don't know if this is really the right group for this, but I'll put it here anyway. A few nights ago I was running rog-o-matic (version 14) against rogue 5.3 (standard version on a vax). It got the kind of luck that we all hope for: On level 12 it had- 72 HP at level 8, a scroll of scare monster, known staffs of slow monster and drain life, healing, extra healing, a long sword (+0, +0), and +4 scale (AC 8) in the pack. It was wearing leather since the scale was unprotected. It had cleaned out a treasure room in level 11 (fighting numerous C's Y's and Q's with no problems) and I was waiting to see how it would fare against T's (and with this pack perhaps even tougher monsters). Instead, it walked up to a F, hit it a few times and then went "run away". Of course you can't run from a F once it hits, so it kept saying "you are held" and then "run away". It soon died. It did not seem possible to help it out since dropping scrolls, drinking potions or zapping wands is not possible in the mode where you give it commands rather than letting it play. I have looked at the code and it says that rog-o-matic will not run from D's . I would think it should also not run from F's. Our rog-o-matic has played about 350 games and has gotten down to level 15 and gotten 4000+ score. Larry Bassel
