We are using gnuemacs, v18.52.8.
In general, I find that gnuemacs has bugs with 1-line files. I often
upload postscript files, which have ^M's in them but no newlines.
Sometimes I must edit these files to fix problems (kermit is buggy).
Usually this involves searching for ^M^J, deleting the ^J, and then
saving the file. Sometimes I try deleting an entire page (search,
set-mark, incremental-search, ^W).
Anyway, with 100k < files < 300K, gnuemacs often munges my file. I.e.
it deletes 30K of data that it shouldn't. I can't quantify exactly
where the problem is occuring (this bug affected me 9mo ago, before we
had this newsgroup) , but it happens fairly regularly, with very few
editor actions.
Has gnuemacs been extensively tested with these types of files? Have
there been any recent bug-fixes or bug-discoveries along these lines?
