[gnu.emacs] Hanging thru `rlogin'

eric@nosun.West.Sun.COM (Eric Hanchrow) (02/03/90)

I doubt that this is an acutal bug, so I'm not sending this to
gnu.emacs.bug.

The setup: I log in to our Sun386 (SunOS 4.0.2), fire up Sunview, and
run a shelltool. Then in that shelltool I rlogin to our SparcStation
(SunOS 4.0.3c), and run Emacs remotely. Usually everything goes well,
but occaisionally (perhaps once per day), while the Emacs is updating
the screen, it'll freeze, and ignore any and all keyboard input.
Sometimes, after anywhere from a few seconds to a minute, it'll
unfreeze (and recognize all the characters I had typed while it was
frozen), and everything will be fine. Other times, it won't unfreeze
for a long enough time that I give up in frustration and kill the
shelltool, and rlogin over again.

Any ideas???
