[sci.bio.technology] DNA software-Chris Upton

mark-d@molbio.cbs.umn.edu (Mark Dalton) (10/23/90)

We use a Sun4 and sparc stations and Iris(SGI). We mostly use the
Intellegenetics Suite, and it works well and is updated regularly
(atleast the databanks are). But there are some other software
packages I have seen through the ftp sites, that are available for
free or a small charge. Unless you go with a Unix system, the packages
seem limited to me, atleast to what I have seen. We have ported some
software on to our Sun, but there is a lot out there, most of it I have
not used, except for RNAFOLD(Zuker's), Plsearch, MASE, Intellegenetics,
Eugene. I am not sure if there is a charge but there is the MBCCR package
from Harvard Labs on an ftp server somewhere, and some other packages I
don't remember off hand, but if you would like more information/sites,
just send me e-mail.
