I was able to bring up g++ with sysv-i386 using the g++-coff diff's available at osu-cis. The GNU-how-to-get file from osu is posted to the net quite frequently. The diff's allow you to use your native linker and assembler, and are in a very simple step by step format that is written for SysVr3. The only drawback is that there will be no debugging support. I'm posting this to mostly to inform people about this, because the alternative of building the gnu assmebler and utils, and converting all of your libraries to bsd format a) did not work for me, and b) is a lot of work. I would also like to thank the author of the diff's , who I was unable to mail directly. I have built a small section of lib-g++. I ran into the fact System V does not support the _IOSTRG stuff needed to get character buffered streams to work (thanks to Bill Bunton for informimg me of the problem here) I ran into a problem running tInteger.cc . I get a floating point exception on the very first line. I was wondering if anyone else is using libg++ on sysVr3 and has gotten further. I believe I have streams, Strings and obstacks working. Also, is oops feasible on SysVr3. Tom -- Tom Friedel Public Access Unix BBS tpf@prism.gatech.edu ...gatech!emory!jdyx!tpf (404) 320-7624 (404) 321-5020
