[gnu.g++] cc1plus got fatal signal 6

While compiling a C++ source from InterViews(not very relevevant), I was handed
the following error by the compiler.

make all
compiling ../base.c
rm -f base.o
/usr/users2/C++/g++/g++ -c  -O  -I.. -I../Generated -I../../.././src/InterViews/Std -I../../.././src    ../base.c
/usr/users2/C++/g++/g++: Program cc1plus got fatal signal 6.
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `base.o'
 
I am running g++-1.36.3 on a SUN-4. 

Email replies would be preferred. I don't follow this newsgroup very closely.
