The other day, I had a really good game of ROGUE going. I was all the way down on level 12 with an 18/07 strength, 54 HP, a ring of regeneration, and a wand of magic missiles. No potions or scrolls at the time, since I had used all of the good ones. No armor to speak of because of my clumsiness and rust monsters, but my mace was +3/+2 and sorta kills anything in my path that is dumb enough to get in my way. Well, here I am, wandering around and killing things that I see, and I get hungry. No food on me, so I walk into this room that has nothing but food in the center of it. Not really wanting to waste too much time here, I start for the food, and promptly fall down a trap door to level 13. Here I start wandering around a bit, looking for some food, and I get into a heated battle with some orcs and hobgoblins. Suddenly, I side-step into another trap and fall down to level 14 into a darkened room with a lot of my hit points missing. I start searching around for more food, because I am starting to get weak by this time. I run into more orcs and have to fend them off. I am starting to faint now. I find a secret door (no minor feat!) and walk into a party-room type of affair and kill everything off while fainting only once! (Luck was on my side!!!) Finding no food in that room, I go back and find another secret door. I follow that one to another darkened room (fainting along the way). As I enter the room, I fall into a pit. And I can't get out and faint in place several times. An orc comes and starts wailing on me while I'm not conscious, and I'm loosing hit points badly. I come around and kill him with one shot and then another one appears. I faint again and get knocked down to 2 hit points, come around and kill him. Then I finally free myself from the pit and pick up the food. I faint. I die. - Dave S. P.S. I think this game has something in it for me!
