I think the main objective is to allow the free spread of software and ideas. If someone doesn't want his software to spread freely, let him do so. That's the way most of us make a living. If someone wants to prevent others from being successful with competitive products, he has to make his own products better. If Apple wins the lawsuit, companies can prevent others to make (better) software for a different reason: copyright on ideas and look&feel. To succeed, the judges must decide that ideas and look&feel cannot be copyrighted. Stopping this lawsuit will not help, some other company will do it. I don't see how boycotting Apple will help this case. They only started it.
