[gnu.gcc] Need help making gcc for Bull XPS-100 Unix box.

frank@ladc.bull.com (Frank Mayhar) (10/03/89)

The Bull XPS-100 is a 68020-based SVR2 unix machine. Has anyone out there
put Gnu C on one of these boxes, or on any 68020 box running System V?
The bundled compiler is AT&T PCC, it has sdb, and it appears to use COFF.
I would like to use the native as and ld, so that I don't have to mess
with gas. I mainly need pointers on how to put things together. I know
that most of the 68020 support already exists, I'm just not sure how to
hook it to the System V/COFF world. If someone actually has already done
the port, I would really appreciate hearing from you. (I'm not holding
my breath, though. :-) Any help I could get in terms of what probably
needs changing, what to watch out for, "gotcha's", etc., would also be
appreciated. Examples would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

When (and if) I get done with this, I'll send it off to the FSF, and post
the configuration files I come up with here.
