* The FSF supports itself from tape distribution fees and from donations. * To get a list of available software, phone (617) 876-3296 and ask to be sent a GNU's Bulletin. Or ask gnu@prep.ai.mit.edu. * To get FSF software without ftp, you can order a tape, as described in the GNU's Bulletin. * To use GCC on a COFF system, you can use it with the native assembler; then GCC doesn't care what the object format is. I don't know whether GCC supports the assembler syntax of SCO Unix, but it can't be too hard to implement. Or you can use COFF encapsulation, and use all the GNU tools together. But you may have to do some amount of work to get COFF encapsulation going on any particular kind of system.

Or you can get it via anonymous UUCP. Write osu-cis!uucp (same as
uucp@cis.ohio-state.edu) for instructions. Many folks find this to be
a quicker, more convenient way to get up-to-date GNU software.
However, if you use osu-cis or any of the other UUCP redistribution
points, you should still consider sending a tape fee to FSF.
Everybody wins: you get software quicker, and FSF saves the labor of
spinning a tape.
