Announcing: The Connection Machine Regional Users Group (CMRUG) The Connection Machine Regional Users Group serving the Washington D.C. and Metropolitan areas is now forming. We hope to provide to the CM user base in our area a forum that is conducive to discussion of various parallel processing issues related to the Connection Machine. Regular meetings will be scheduled that will give the users, staffs and vendors the opportunity to meet and talk to one another as well as listen to talks given be their peers. Currently we are trying to get together a steering committee that will guide the users group's formation and continue to shape its future activities. If any of you would like to be involved with the steering committee please send mail to this effect to, cmrug-request@umiacs.umd.edu. There is also a mailing list associated with the users group used to inform the user base about users group activities such as talks and meetings and should also be a place for open discussion of ideas related to the Connection Machine and parallel processing issues. If any of you would like to be on this mailing list please send mail to this effect to, cmrug-request@umiacs.umd.edu. I do hope the users group proves to be beneficial for the user base, systems staffs and the various vendors. If any of you have any ideas as to topics you would like discussed or other activities you think the users group should be involved with please send mail to, cmrug-steering@umiacs.umd.edu. Thank you and Tah. There is also an affiliate of UniForum (formerly /usr/group, the organization that this newsgroup relates to) in the D.C. area. You might want to compare notes with them, or actually merge groups. I am posting from home, so I don't have contact information at hand. You can, however, contact Van Weathers at the UniForum offices for more info on the UniForum affiliate group. Call 408-986-8840, FAX 408-986-1645, or email to uunet!usrgrp!van if you are interested. -- Ralph Barker: SVNet, 640 So Winchester Blvd, San Jose,CA 95128 uucp: ...{pyramid, sun, uunet}!amdahl!aleph!svnet!ralph uunet!usrgrp!svnet!ralph or, attmail!ralmar!ralph Voice: (408) 248-8649
