[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] Snap & apology for Bill-Chuck swap.

browning@cory.Berkeley.EDU (Craig Browning) (05/12/88)

First the apology:

Bill Davidsen was unfortunately named in a recent posting by me where
his name and Chuck somebody's were together in the > and >> headers, and
Bill's was given instead of Chuck's. I want to apologize to Bill for putting
his name over the comments of the reviled Chuck, according to a message he
sent me he's been getting some flames belonging to Chuck; the flamers are
right in intention, but as was well expressed by Dick Flanagan, Marshall
Dillon killed an (almost) innocent poster. The error has been pointed out
by others and me publicly now so I hope Bill Davidsen doesn't suufer any more
for words he disliked also. His name, since he's been posting so much lately,
I guess just jumped out. I'm sorry that the proper guy wasn't flamed instead.
It's a reminder that we should be careful.

Now for the goodies: SNAP 2.02a which I recommend to any dbase programmer
is available for ftp in Simtel 20 archives. Go to pd1:<msdos.databases>,
and get snap202.arc. Unfortunately after I brought in the disk, uploaded
it to the mainframe etc. in a hurry Keith told me it was already there,
but at least he was nice enough (perhaps in self-preservation:) to say
'It's so good, we should mention it again to the net.' I agree.
I'm going to send something to the net tonight, and hopefully it will
still be globe.exe for windows after you get it.

Mistakes: more aggravating than these hundreds of hardware errors I'm fixing.

Craig
