(Sorry for posting a complaint here, but our site doesn't have
comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d yet.)
I recently downloaded the HYPER program off the net using the
following shell script (as recommended by Raul):
#! /bin/sh
cat $* | sed '/^END/,/^BEGIN/d'| uudecode
The resultant arc file was:
HYPER ARC 172171 5-16-88 12:29p
However, in un-archiving the file, it informed me that FILE55 failed
the CRC check.
Figuring that the shell script was somehow responsible, I went back to
the original files, concatenated them the old way (slow and
tedious), and created a second arc file. This time it resulted in
the following arc file:
HYPER ARC 209185 5-16-88 2:25p
Can anybody tell me what's going on here?? The second file is not only
21% larger than the first, but FILE55 still failed the CRC check!
BTW, I used PKARC to un-archive the file. If anyone got all files to
un-archive properly, please send me FILE55 by email. Thanks.
