[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] looking for a gif printer

820785gm@aucs.UUCP (Andrew MacLeod) (06/09/88)

ahhhh
hello once more. to sink yet further in the quagmire of gif pictures,
I was wondering if anyone out there has a program to print gif pictures from
a file (probably not), or, lacking that, a good program (read not slow) for
printing hi-res pictures from the screen to a variety of printers. I dont
think there is anything around here at all for dumping screens so anything
would be appreciated!
there are a number of different kinds of printers around here, (and a lot of
CITOH 8510s for some reason.) , so the specific printer isn't overly important.
anyway, if anyone does have one of these that can be shared, would you
mind very much sending me a copy??

		thanks a lot eh

A program called "giftops" appeared on comp.sources.misc some time ago. It
converts GIF files into a format which could be printed on any POSTSCRIPT
printer. It is perhaps available from uunet.uu.net, else send me e-mail.

Application Techniques' PIZZAZ is an excellent screen printing utility.
It supports many, many printers.
I have used it to make excellent full color copies of GIF pictures on my
Tektronix 4696 color ink jet printer.
I don't know the exact price I believe it is about $50.

Their telephone number is: 1-617-433-5201

Tombo.
I have no connection with Application Techniques, Inc. except as a happy
customer.

Yeah, but what the poster wanted, and what *I* would like as well, is a
program that will print the picture *directly* from the file. This would be
limited only by the resolution of the *printer* not the screen.
