I am trying to retrieve files from RPICICGE.BITNET using the archive
server there, but every file I recieve has a checksum error when I try
to de-arc it. I have tried contacting FISHER@RPICIGE.BITNET, but don't
appear to be getting through. I have tried requesting files to be sent
without specifying any particular format and encoding, and specifying MAIL
format and UUEncoding, but neither makes any difference. I can, however,
request directory listings and recieve these ok.
Can anybody suggest anything that might help ?

James, I have forwarded your message to John Fisher. The problem may
be that you are sending your request to RPICICGE.BITNET instead of the
Arpanet side which is CICGE.RPI.EDU. This may be causing some
problems with EBCDIC-to-ASCII conversion.
Please try this path: ukc!mcvax!uunet!cicge.rpi.edu!listserv
