Version 4.83 of pcmoria (moria for the IBM pc) is presently being distributed
to the net. This is a very bad idea, and I recommend that readers not use
this particular distribution. Readers of rec.games.moria will be aware of
several pertinent facts: pcmoria 4.83 is seriously buggy; there are several
versions of pcmoria numbered 4.83, distinguishable only by playing them;
pcmoria 4.87 is nearly ready, and will{_ be available very soon (it is
already available by ftp or US mail). For those using pcmoria 4.83, the
version in comp.binaries.ibm.pc is probably the one with adequate food, but
no rations of food sold in the general store, very highly enchanted objects
and very high level monsters appearing early, and objects with see-invisible
powers failing (scrolls potions & staves work, though). I concede that on some
machines, V 4.87 has had awful bugs, but if they haven't been fixed yet they
should be fixed within days. I know something about fixing moria bugs, having
ported it to a system of no interest to this discussion, but different from
the original.
