[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] Island, a text game part 1/2

ross@loral.UUCP (Robert Ross) (08/23/88)

I'm kinda new to this group and having an IBM at home, would like to
be able to use some of the postings in this group. However, I seem
to be at a loss on how to get stuff from this newsgroup to the vax to
my computer at home and still have it work. The main problem, I guess,
is understading what this means:

> Extract manually or concatenate both parts without editing and filter
> through:
> sed '/^END/,/^BEGIN/d'| uudecode
>
> Checksums, obtained with 4.3BSD "sum" or System V "sum -r" for each
> part between (but not including) "BEGIN--cut here--cut here" and
> "END--cut here--cut here" lines, and for final island.arc:
>
> CRC kbytes File
> 42530 44 island.1
> 11439 41 island.2
> 09093 60 island.arc
>

I suppose that after these commands have been done then you end up with
a archived file that is ready to be downloaded to my home computer and
then extracted.

Could someone out there shed some light and help me figure out how to
do this 'uudecode'? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks lots,
