Here are the answers to my Prisoner quiz. They are compiled from
my own knowlege, and the answers supplied by: watmath!gamiddleton,
unc!mks, pyuxn!ggr, and utcsrgv!donald (to give credit where it is
due).

1) The Prisoner is a loose sequel on what long running T.V. show?

"Secret Agent [Man]" on this side of the Atlantic,
"Danger Man" in England (and I assume other Commonwealth
   countries)

2) What is the number of the main character?

   The 'Prisoner' is number 6.

3) Describe the badges worn by the characters in the 'village'.

   There were two:

   - A black on white pennyfarthing bicycle (big front wheel with
canopy) approx 4 in. in diameter. The number of the character was
placed in the center of the large wheel in red.

   - A white on black of the same bicycle with no number.

4) What was the name given to the weather balloon that stopped
prisoners from escaping from the beach?

   Rover.

5) What was the name of the newspaper?

"The Tally-Ho", dispensed from a roll from what looked like
   a food vendor's pushcart.

6) What were the wheeled vehicles used to drive around the village?

They were jeep like vehicles, some with red striped canopies.
Red striped canopies were a feature of the village.

7) Number-two was always shown weilding a scepter-like symbol of
   authority. Describe it.

A large umbrella with two triangular handles. The umbrella could
be planted on the ground and sat upon.

8) What is the name of the actual village where scenes were shot on
   location?

   Portmeirion
   Penrhyndeudraeth, Gwynedd, LL486ER
   Wales

- Where is it located?

It is sandwiched between the towns of Minffordd, Portmadoc, and
the Cardigan Bay of the Irish Sea, in North Wales.

- Who built it?

Sir William Clough-Ellis, a noted English architect. He built it
on a whim to create the idillic Italianesque village (but in
Wales????). It is a private resort village open to tourists.

- What is the telephone number?

The main telephone number (to the Hotel Portmeirion) is:
   076674-228

Portmeirion is also noted for having some of the finest cuisine in
England, the highest hotel rates, and for Portmeirion China.

9) Who is 'number-one'?

No one really is sure. Some believe that in some existential way
number 6 is really number 1. This may be left to debate.
   Q: "Who are you?"
   A: "The new Number 2"
   Q: "Who is Number 1?"
A: "You are Number 6" or "You are, Number 6"

10) How did the main character (#6) get to the control area of the
     'village' (besides being forcibly taken)?

Number 6 enters through the house of number two (the one with the
     green dome).
