Why don't you let it be a zoo archive ? I for one like zoo better than
arc or pkpak. With zoo you don't get the
'Oops I think you need a newer version of arc'
message. Maybe it is time for yet another poll on archive formats now
that things have calmed down a bit.

I for one will always prefer arc until another fast archiving
program comes along that I can use on Unix AND my pc! It saves me a LOT of
TIME! When programs are in arc format I can unarchive them on the unix system
and read the docs and if I like it then I will download it, or if there is
two arcs inside one arc (one for source and one for the binaries) I usually
don't care for the source so I will just download the binaries. Pkarc is the
fastest archive program around (and running on a 4.7 mhz machine that's great!)
So if someone has a version of zoo for Unix which is compatible with
the PC's then I will go with zoo too, but until then I see no need for it.
(if there is a version for unix then don't flame me but send me the source
for it)

Unfortunately the version of ARC which will handle PKARC files doesn't
run on many versions of UNIX (actually the arc program stock doesn't run
without diddling in most cases). I have "ported" zoo 2.01 to Xenix/286,
/386, Ultrix, SunOS, Convex, Encore, and VAX/VMS. All I changed was the
defines for UNIX type. VMS took some minor playing with the makefile,
but I didn't touch the code.

On my BBS I leave things the way I get them if they are arc or zoo,
and repack them if they are dwc or pkarc. I pack anything I personally
develop and release in zoo format.
