Now available via standard anonymous FTP from Simtel20:

DSZ is a stand-alone modem program which saves the comm port status,
installs its own comm interrupt handlers, sends or receives files
using ZMODEM, True YMODEM(Tm), and XMODEM. It restores the old comm
port status before exiting.

Features include buffered RX/TX for good background performance,
"Talk" command for interactive operation and background transfers in
<70k DESQview etc. window, table driven CRC-32, Crash Recovery(Tm),
and advanced file management.

This version, dated 12-16-88, introduces ZMODEM RLE compression with
the -Z option. ZMODEM RLE compression packs runs of the same
character in two or three character sequences. Compression is useful
for screen dumps, uncompressed workspaces, compiler listings, and
other files rich with strings of repeated characters, but not .ARC and
.ZOO files. Compression percentages range from 0 for already
compressed files to more than 1000 per cent (10x speedup!) for the
Personal Computing text file benchmark(!). When sending to programs
that do not support ZMODEM compression, the -Z option is ignored.

The "estimate" command is fixed.

DSZ is shareware. It must be registered to gain the use of some
advanced features. Beginning with this version a new serial number
system has been employed. If you are a registered DSZ user and find
that your SNP is not accepted by the program, contact the author
for a new number.
