With all this talk about PKZIP, I was wondering if anybody has any information about the "other" compression algorithms that are incorporated into v0.90. Somebody--I forgot who, sorry--mentioned that Phil Katz placed those algorithms into the public domain; I dialed into the PKWARE BBS and found no trace of a document that explained the methods used. The file that was supposed to talk (I don't know in how much detail) about those algorithms were *not* in the distribution file. By the way, the fact that ZOO can preserve an archive's directory structure is not unique to ZOO, PKZIP also has this feature. If anybody has any information concerning the compression algorithms used in PKZIP, I would be very grateful if you can e-mail it to me, or post it on the net so that everybody could benefit. BTW, I do not have access to ftp, so I can't get information via that route. Ken tempest@csuchico.EDU
