[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] BACKMAIL in the UK

ianking@idec.stc.co.uk (Ian King) (03/24/89)

Has anybody in the UK or the rest of world tried BACKMAIL for the PC (recently
posted to c.b.i.p). I've read the documentation & got it running on my
system (Kaypro 286i + Pace Series 4 modem) put I just cant get it to
understand UK-style telephone numbers.
For example (fictious numbers) 01-123-3456 or 0123-456789 or
even 012-345-6789. This program looks really great (and yes I would register
my copy) except I cant use it :-( help!!

Regards...
..........Ian King.

In producing BackMail, the primary initial target was the North American
market. Since BackMail automatically registers itself (when you say so)
via our 1-800 number, we have to have a 1-800 number in both Canada and
the United States.

In order to have BackMail work (and generate revenue) throughout Europe
(and the rest of the world), we would need toll-free lines in each of these
countires, which is a terrible hassle (and expense).

However, we are currently setting up distribution deals with people in many
countries throughout Europe, South America, Australia, and the rest of the
world, whereby these people will deal with the details of the registration
process within their country.

A European version of the program will be available shortly (I believe it's
in the final stages of testing), so stay tuned...
