[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] Archive site wanted

jwright@atanasoff.cs.iastate.edu (Jim Wright) (03/31/89)

In conjunction with the formation of the new newsgroup, comp.virus,
I have been working on the creation of a system of anti-viral archives.
These sites will maintain archives of all the non-commercial anti-viral
software available for particular machines. We already have sites for
the Amiga, AppleII, Atari ST and Mac computers, but do not yet have a
site for the IBM PC.

The software for these archives will come from various sources.
First of all, the archive site will probably already have some of
these available. Second, all the archive sites throughout the
world will be coordinated so that each has a complete set of files.
Third, it is hoped that this system will become well enough
established so that the anti-viral program authors will submit
their efforts directly to the group. Finally, the readers of
comp.virus and the virus-l mailing list will undoubtedly provide
assistance. As an archive site it will not be your responsibility
to actively seek out software. Maintaining a system is work enough.

Potential sites should be already established as IBM PC archive
sites. Availability of either anonymous ftp, a mail server or
similar access is required. If your site would be willing to
cooperate in this, please send email to me. Thanks for your help.
