[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] lzhuf.c copyright condition

c31293@tansei.cc.u-tokyo.JUNET (Kenji Rikitake) (04/09/89)

I posted Lzhuf.c at c.b.i.p. Since Japanese Copyright Law does not require
expressing the owner of copyright by "(C)....", I did not put copyright
message on it.

LZHUF.C is copyrighted. The authors, Yoshizaki, Okumura, and myself,
do not allow it being used in ANY commercial softwares.

I would appreciate if you put the following lines at the lzhuf.c source:

/*
LZHUF.C (c)1989 by Haruyasu Yoshizaki, Haruhiko Okumura, and Kenji Rikitake.
All rights reserved. Permission granted for non-commercial use.

If anyone is trying to do anything useful with lzhuf.c on non-PC
machines, note the following:
 1) getbit/getbyte are 16 bit speciffic and must be changed. The changes
    are obvious.

 2) there is (at least) one other bug which I haven't found, causing
looping when compressing certain files. I only see it on about 0.3% of
the files, so I haven't pinpointed it yet.

 3) there appears to be a problem on machines which don't store least
significant byte first. At any rate I get different failures on such
    machines than 386/VAXen.

I would like to hear from anyone working on making the original
program more portable.
