I thought it might be nice to put some of my favorite
historical trivia on the net. Answers will be posted in a
week or so.
1. Did George Washington win or lose the majority of
battles he commanded?
2. What could George III of England do, that his two
predecessors could not, that was one of the greatest
factors causing the American Revolution?
3. How many attacks were made on the Alamo and who had
more dead when the Alamo fell the Texans or
Mexicans?
4. Where and how did the last heir to the royal house
of Napoleon die (he would have been Napoleon the
IV)? (Note there are still relatives to Napoleon
living, and claiming to be heirs, but they are not
considered part of the royal house descended from
Napoleon I and his brother Joseph.)
5. We are told that the Colonist's victory at battle of
Saratoga caused the French to ally with us and
provide us with the material we need to gain
independence. Hence the American commander who was
most responsible winning the battle can be
considered the father of our country. Who is that
commander?
6. When Winfield Scott retired at the beginning of the
Civil War who did he choose as his successor?
7. What congressman got George Pickett (of Pickett's
charge fame) his appointment to West Point and where
did he graduate in his class?
8. What branch of the Service did Napoleon Bonaparte
start his military career in and what rank did he
have? (Choices are Infantry, Cavalry, Artillery and
Engineers)
9. Why was Bligh chosen to command the Bounty?
10. What rank did George Custer hold at the time of the
battle of the Little Big Horn?
Good Luck,
Tom Harris
