Mark, I saw your posting in comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d. What seems to be the problem with getting binary files from Simtel20? I really would like to get this resolved because your posting makes it appear as if we are carrying corruped files, which is NOT the case. When you downloaded pdtar.arc to your PC if you used Kermit did you remember to tell the mainframe Kermit to use binary mode? It defaults to text mode which really messes up binary files! --Keith Petersen Maintainer of Simtel20's CP/M, MSDOS, and MISC archives Internet: w8sdz@wsmr-simtel20.army.mil [26.2.0.74] Uucp: {ames,decwrl,harvard,rutgers,ucbvax,uunet}!wsmr-simtel20.army.mil!w8sdz Keith, As I mentioned in my posting, I tried both the TENEX option and the BINARY option from within FTP. Using the two options I receive two different file sizes (117149 bytes using TENEX and I can't remember what the file size was using binary). When downloading from UNIX to the PC, I tried both the -is option and manually setting file type binary with KERMIT on the UNIX side and using PROCOMM on the PC side. This method has always worked for me in the past. Your archives are probably in order but I cannot get PDTAR.ARC.1 to unarc using PKXARC (v3.5). If I'm doing something wrong please let me know. Thanks in advance, Mark (lever@linus.uucp)
