Here is an answer to many inquiries about where to get zoo. The ms-dos version of zoo was posted to comp.binaries.ibm.pc a few weeks ago. It will be posted again in another few weeks, since many people seemed to have missed it. The portable C version was posted to comp.sources.unix around February 1989. It should therefore be available from any archive site that saves comp.sources.unix. Look in the introductory postings in comp.sources.unix for information about these archive sites--there are several of them. SIMTEL-20 also has zoo sources in a ZOO subdirectory. Files from there are available not only by ftp, but also through several mail servers on BITNET. (You can request files from these BITNET mail servers even if you are yourself not on BITNET, since there are gateways between BITNET and the Internet.) Information about these has been posted often in the comp.*.ibm.pc newsgroups. Finally, if all else fails, send $10 in US funds, payable to Judy Bonneau, to: Ms. Judy Bonneau Department of Computer Science Muncie, Indiana 47306 USA Specify either standard 360 K IBM PC format floppy disks or 1.2 M IBM AT format floppy disks. The disk(s) you will get back will include: - the zoo C source, which is ready to compile under 4.3BSD, System V, Xenix, Microport System V/AT, MS-DOS (Turbo C 1.0), and VAX/VMS - zoo executable for AmigaDOS, MS-DOS, VAX/VMS, and Atari/ST - booz extract-only program C source - booz executable for CP/M - support utilities for MS-DOS including looz (list/extract/execute from zoo archives), stuff (find files based on conditions for archiving), sez (create self-extracting zoo archives), atoz (convert any other format to zoo) -- Rahul Dhesi <dhesi@bsu-cs.bsu.edu> UUCP: ...!{iuvax,pur-ee}!bsu-cs!dhesi Career change search is on -- ask me for my resume
