Hello, I am posting this request for information on behalf of a friend. Actually we both use PFM V2.28 on our IBM PC's. PFM is a personal file manager originally written for free distribution with Compaq computers. It was written by Paul R. Culley. We both like using PFM very much, much more so than DOS 4.0's filesystem or other programs such as MSwindows or POPDOS ( Logitech ). The problem is this, my friend used to have an IBM PS/2 60 with 3 megs. of memory, running DOS 4.01. PFM worked fine independent of how he configured the system. He has since upgraded to a model 70 with 2 megs of memory. The only difference between his old computer and the new one ( besides the amount of memory, the different model & '386 ) is that now of course he must install XMAEM.SYS to emulate a '286 extended memory manager. However, if he configures the model 70 with extended memory PFM crashes after doing it's initialization. We were wondering if anyone has run into this same problem and if they know a fix for it. Or even if anyone can suggest what might be wrong. ( not neccessarily XMAEM.SYS ). We have tried to contact Paul Culley to no avail. Has anyone heard of PFM? Is there a new version out? Paul Frattaroli p.s. If anyone would like a copy of PFM 2.28 I could post it to comp.binaries.ibm.pc or E-mail it to you upon request. -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paul Frattaroli - Department of Computing Services University of Waterloo < pfratar@watshine.waterloo.edu > < pfratar@watdcsu.waterloo.edu >
