For reasons of economy, I do not read comp.binaries.ibm.pc at all. Our
phone bill would be prohibitive :-(. As a consequence, I would like to
see postings accompanied (or preceeded) by an announcement in this news
group with the details. Then, I could easily track down copies of those
items which interest me.

Such a scheme would also allow people to read the .d discussions about
programs and know what the program *does*. It would also ensure that
single part postings are not going to the great bit bucket in the sky.

Please, Rahul? Pretty please?

This is easily done, but I don't know how much demand there is for it.
On a trial basis, I will soon be posting a "Current postings in
comp.binaries.ibm.pc" digest at intervals to comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d and
comp.sys.ibm.pc. Feedback will decide whether this continues on a
regular basis.
