I claim the distinction of being one of those directly responsible for
the death of that most inane of shows "It's about time".
One time at dinner, we received a phone call asking whether there was
a 12 or 13 year old boy in the house (that's me). I was asked what my
favorite show was ("Daktari", also inane in retrospect). I was then asked
what I thought about "It's about time". I said that I never watched it
and thought it was really stupid.
Shortly thereafter they canned it. I guess they got a similiar response
from the other members of their target audience (i.e. adolescent
kids).
Sometimes when I wonder whether it is all worthwhile, I think back ad
and realize that I had a little hand in making TV better.
Then I think about what TV is like now and realize that it made no difference.
Sigh....
