[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] Internet Address Change

INFO@VM1.NODAK.EDU (Marty Hoag) (08/11/89)

The following announcement of an upcoming change may affect some
of you either directly or indirectly as some of our servers may be
down or FTP access may be interrupted. You may already have seen it
on another list. Please let me know of any problems! Thanks!

Internet Address Change

The academic host site of the North Dakota Higher Education
Computer Network will be changing a class C network (192.33.18) to
class B (134.129) at 12:00 NOON CDT (1700 GMT/UTC) on Tuesday, August
15, 1989. We hope to have the major hosts and gateways back up within
an hour but connectivity may be variably marginal the rest of the day.

We will continue to lower the TTL values in the nameservers as the
time approaches. (We thought it amazing that we independently picked
the same day as Princeton and just an hour later to make our change!).

Some facilities of netwide interest affected by the outage would be
on host "VM1.NoDak.EDU" which will be changing its address from
192.33.18.30 to 134.129.111.1. Facilities include anonymous FTP
service for the MINIX files, Health Info-Com Newsletter, and several
public mailing lists. We also run an RPI "Trickle" server providing
mail access to the WSMR-SIMTEL20.ARMY.MIL files via our LISTSERV
server for users on the Internet and BITNET/NetNorth/EARN.

Should you have any questions or concerns please contact our
Network Services group. Thank you!
