[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] uucp site for c.b.i.p

glenn@stsim.UUCP (Glenn Ford) (08/12/89)

Well, this is to inform the many people who sent me rmail asking to let
them know if I found a site. The answer is NONE. I must have had 30-40
people ask me to let them know if I found a site. This sounds like a good
time to see if we can find someone who would be willing to start a public
access uucp site for c.b.i.p! What does everyone think?

Or, if you can find out a way to run uucp and fidonet at the same time,
I'll run it on grape.ecs.clarkson.edu.

This is one anonymous UUCP site for cbip which I have not yet announced
because I wasn't sure of it. I also plan to set one up on my own home
system once I have moved to California. So in a few weeks there should
be two.

Most of the programs posted in comp.binaries.ibm.pc are added to the
archives at SIMTEL20 (if they aren't there already). The only exception
is games, which we are no longer allowed to offer.

Readers on uucp hosts can order SIMTEL20 files by netmail via LISTSERV.

A typical path is: ...!uunet!vm1.nodak.edu!listserv

Substitute your nearest backbone site for uunet in the example path
above. Examples: ames, decwrl, gatech, harvard, rutgers, ucbvax.

If you can't reach the file server send mail to me at the address below
and I will try to determine what the problem is.

Just a reminder to those on the Internet: if you can use FTP please do
NOT use the netmail file server. FTP is far more efficient and places
a much lower load on network and host resources.
