Who can tell us about that fun-loving couple that ran by the names
Beany & Cecil? Their names came up in a conversation the other day
and no-one could remember anything beyond Beany being a large sea monster.

Get your brains in gear and help me out...

halle1 (01/16/83)

Beany was the kid. Cecil was the Seasick Sea Serpent. One of their
favorite places was No Bikini Atoll.
They were first a pair of puppets, and then a cartoon. That's why you
never see their legs.

Beanie and Cecil... (sp?)

	Cecil was a sea-serpent (A sea-sick sea-serpent, at that), Beanie was\
a kid who wore a cap with a propeller on it (a beanie...) and the villian was
named Dishonest John. (Nye-he-he..).

And, of course, Beany wore what was to become the famous Beany Cap,
on his head. I believe his Beany Cap had a propeller on it, enabling
Beany to fly like a helicopter.

bdot (01/17/83)

Beany was the little boy in Beany and Cecil. Cecil, the sea monster was
always yelling "I'm comin' Beany boy, I'm a comin'!"

perelgut (01/17/83)

Beany and Cecil was a childrens show. Beany (or Beany-boy) had a good
friend named Cecil the Seasick Sea-serpent. They sailed the oceans alond
(along) with Captain John and a crow named Blackie (who didn't talk much).
The bad-guy was Dishonest-John

Beany was the kid, he wore a beany with a propellor on it.
Cecil was the sea serpent.
As I recall, beany had an Uncle or reasonable equivalent...

csc (01/18/83)

I remember the theme song ended with:
"A Bob Clampet Cartooooooooooooooooooon!"
 and Cecil would always yell
"I'm coming Beanie, I'm coming!"
the villain was Dishonest John, of course.

The captain was called "uncle captain" or "captain uncle"

Anyone remember an animated afternoon series called "Astro Boy"?
Something about a little boy who was actually a robot.
His legs doubled as rocket tubes, useful for flying Superman-style.

Of COURSE we remember Astroboy! Here are some starter questions:

1.	What was the name of Astroboy's creator?

2.	Who was the policeman who frequently appeared in the cartoon?

3.	Brainbuster: What was the name of the production company which
	made the cartoon?
Extra credit: Which one of the "big three" television networks
was associated with the production or distribution of the show?
