[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] need memory testing program

terry@joshua.math.ucla.edu (08/17/89)

Hi, everyone.

I'm in the market for a good PC diagnostics program that does memory
testing. Specifically, I am currently using SuperSoft diagnostics
version 2.6. It includes write/read, burn-in, and walking-bit tests
and can also display a memory usage map.

SuperSoft is pushing their latest release, version 3.9. Does anyone
know if this is any better? Or maybe if something better is on the
market? Note the SuperSoft package retails around $150-$200.

Please e-mail your responses. I will post a summary in appropriate
newsgroups. Thanks!

Hello, happy net.maniacs!

I am looking for a good memory testing program for the PC/XT/AT. It should
able to test base, extended, and expanded memory. I am currently using
SuperSoft diagnostics version 2.6; it is friendly but unreliable (lots
of non-repeating soft errors). The SuperSoft package includes a quick
scan test, write/read, burn in, and walking bit tests. (It also has
stuff for other parts of the PC.) I am most interested in the write/read
and burn-in tests.

If anyone can recommend a program (or has any info about the latest version
of SuperSoft) please send me e-mail. I will post a summary.

(This is the second time I have posted this. Sorry for the net.noise, but
my site was down shortly after posting and I received only 1 response.)

Thanks!
