[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] Biomurff vs. CGA emulators

mbb@cbnewsh.ATT.COM (martin.b.brilliant) (08/30/89)

I just got around to trying biomurff (a graphic demonstration of
variation and user selection of reportedly squiggly biomorphs). I
can't get it to work on my XT clone with monochrome (Herc-compatible)
video card and monochrome monitor.

I have two CGA emulators, SIMCGA and HGCIBM, and this is the first
program I've found that doesn't work with either of them. Without an
emulator, biomrf (which is how the exe file is named) gives me a
screenful of text, two questions, and then a fatal error message. With
SIMCGA the cursor wanders over the screen without writing any text, but
the program terminates if I pretend that the same questions have
appeared. With HGCIBM the program just hangs and only the reset button
has any effect.

Has anybody been able to run biomurff with a monochrome card? Or does
anybody know why it does not work with a CGA emulator?
