    We at UVa remember Astro boy, but we also remember a host of other
Japanese cartoons,  as well as some non-cartoons from Japan that were
(or should have been) directed at children.  A list of what we remember
follows-
		show                    distinctive features

	cartoons -
	    Astro Boy               whoop - whoop - whoop
	    Kimba the White Lion    Kimba - Kimba - Kimba - Kimba
	children shows -
	    Ultra Man               beep - beep - beep - beep
	    Johnny Socko            (only one guy remembered this one)
	movies -
	    Anything with Gamera,   the ones I bought at the dimestore
					couldn't fly
		Mothra,             don't leave woolens nearby
		Rodan               the impressionist?
		Godzilla            blub - blub - blub

   I just saw Mark Hamel (sp?, Luke Skywalker) on an interview program
and he mentioned that he had auditioned (but lost) early in his career
for the American voice of Astro-Boy.
