XXENCODE/XXDECODE is a uuencode/uudecode with a modified character set which is intended to solve the problems caused by ASCII/EBCDIC character conversions encountered in sending mail through BITNET. The source code has been in the SIMTEL20 archives (in the <msdos.c> directory) for quite some time.
