On my last crusade throught the /f/uploads directory of grape.ecs.clarkson.edu, I noticed THEXDER.ZIP. Curious as I was, I thought I'd see what it was. Sure enough it was THEXDER by Sierra On-Line. Now I had the impres- sion that THEXDER was not PD or SHAREWARE, so what in MPU's name is that doing there? What is the general policy of commercial software in BBS's? -Brian ---------------------------------------------------------- Brian Mallari University of California, Berkeley mallari@cory.berkeley.edu

When I was helping maintain grape.ecs, the policy seemed to be to not pay much attention. Its generally too much of a hassle to find out the status of every file uploaded. I'm not sure about the legality of this; if you own a warehouse, are you liable for people who store stolen property in it? I dunno, but I don't see why you should be. If you want to talk with The Man himself, drop a line to Russ Nelson (nelson@sun.soe.clarkson.edu) and he should be able to explain the current policies (or lack thereof). Of course, he may be reading this discussion anyway.
