In case anyone is interested, I solved my hard disk parking problem. One solution suggested was to use a routine called PARK, available from SIMTEL, which manually counts the number of tracks on your disk. Unfortunately, in my case, it sounded like it was trying to kill my disk, so I gave up. I finally found, in file pd:<msdos.dskutl>pdisk.arc on SIMTEL, a short program to override the BIOS disk parameters set up on my machine, so that disk park progs like TIMEPARK etc get the correct value. What is more, it doesn't even take up any RAM to do so. I'd recommend this to anyone who is forced to use a disk description that does not quite match the true parameters of their disk. This has also enabled me to use PCTOOLS MIRROR to backup my partition table. Beforehand, I got a message telling me my partition table was either missing or non standard. Hope this is useful Richard Stanton pstanton@gsb-what.stanford.edu
