[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] Sys Req key

jobrien@nixbur.UUCP (John O'Brien) (12/09/89)

The story of the SysReq key on the IBM AT as I heard it was
that when the AT first came out ('84, I think), there was some
talk that it would be used as a multi-tasking machine (in
protected mode). The SysReq key was to be used to indicate
system requests, and the key had its own interrupt so it
could always interrupt whatever else was going on. All the
cloners copied everything, even the SysReq relic key. It's
basically a useless key at this point.
