I have a Smith Corona XE 6100 typewriter which comes with a 9-pin D-connector for computer communications. The manual tells me that I have to buy a "Messenger Module" before I can connect an RS-232 or Centronix interface. I want to connect the typewriter to my PC (which has both serial and parallel output ports), but I'm not crazy about spending more money on a messenger module which may be unnecessary. Does anyone know what this box actually does? Does anyone know what the pin-out is on the 9-pin D-connector? Thanks in advance for your help. John Ens johne@ee.ubc.ca
