Several months ago we purchased an IBM AT compatible computer from the CVN Television Network.. It's a MOTOROLA Brand AT Computer... There seems to be a problem with the system's DMA Chip.. Any backup program that uses direct DMA access for high speed backups (such as Fastback and PCtools PCBackup) creates unreliable backups... I can only get the LOW DMA speed to pass for Fastback Plus and even then the backups have sector errors when read back using the compare files feature... I heard that AMD's DMA chip had a problem with it... Does anyone know HOW TO SPOT and REPLACE a bad DMA chip?? I looked at the motherboard but have no clue as to what the DMA Chip looks like.. Also what would be a good replacement DMA Chip?? I would really like to get Fastback Plus working.. Please email as I don't keep up with this newsgroup... Thanks!
