I'm frustrated about recent SIMTEL20 'how to' posts, so I gotta ask just one more time! Ignore the fact that I have access to the net and UNIX etc... Here I am with 1200 baud modem, Simple communications program (Bitcom to be exact), PC compatible running MS-DOS 4.0. Now, step-by-step how do I get access to SIMTEL20? If you are saying "Jeez this is a dead horse!!" then perhaps someone could offer to Email me instructions rather than posting.

I will assume you have the ability to send and receive email through uunet. If so, you can access SIMTEL20 file via a list server at various locations. The list server will prepare requested files and mail them to you in pieces. There are limits and other features. Get the file AAAREAD.ME that is discussed in the comp.sys.ibm.digest newsgroup, I think. :) Simply send email to uunet!vm1.nodak.edu!listserv with a valid Reply-to field, a subject of Request (some routers need this), and a one-line message that reads: /PDGET MAIL pd1:<msdos.filedocs>aaaread.me ( UUENCODE It may take a few days if the net is busy, but it works for me. Once you get the mail messages, piece them together, remove the headers, run uudecode and probably an un-archive program. Is that muddy enough? :) -- _____________________________________________________________________ Internet: fordke@ingr.com \ "and the Trees are all kept equal UUCP: ...!uunet!ingr!fordke \ by hatchet, axe, and saw." -Rush
