[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] Archive Access and getting programs to run

cws@mbunix.mitre.org (Christopher C. Wilder-Smith) (02/28/90)

I have jsut started looking at the comp.binaries.ibm.pc newsgroup and have
saved a few programs, stuck the parts together, eedecoded, gotten good
checksums, etc. When I uploaded the executeable to a pc using binary
xmodem it all seemed to work fine. Of course the .zoo won't execute on the
pc so I tried renaming to .exe. Then I get some message such as file to big
to fit in memory. Obviously I'm missing something important here. Can
anyone give me a pointer or two!

Also, I've tried getting on the server via anonymous ftp and it always say
too many anonymous user's -- What's a good time to try?

Thanks in advance!

Chris

A .zoo file is a file that has been compressed in the ZOO format. You
must uncompress this file with some type of deZOO programme.

How about 2AM? Seriously. Or 8AM on Saturday or Sunday.
