I've been fighting a really dumb problem for about a month now and was hoping that perhaps someone else has had a similar problem and solved it. It involves a softstrip reader connected to a CompuAdd 286/8Mhz AT computer on COM2 port. The company, Softstrip, that sold the reader and the software to drive it has been helpful in trying to find a fix but has not been able to resolve it. The problem is that the reader doesn't read using their supplied program, CAUZCOMM.EXE. The reader protocol is quite simply and in fact, I've been able to make it work on my computer using simple BASIC or A.L. The confusing part to me is that the reader and their supplied program work just fine on some computers around here, but not on others. For example, they work fine on a brand new CompuAdd 386/20Mhz, and on an old TrueBlue/6Mhz and on a Compaq/?. I have had this PC for a lot of years and never found any other "incompatibility". Is that all that I am fighting? Any help would be great. Thanks.
